水吸収線量により校正された電離箱を用いた外部放射線治療における基準線量評価に必要な放射線線量評価の基本について述べる.水吸収線量の一次標準の現況について簡単に述べる.このような吸収線量校正定数を利用するために展開されたk_Q定式の電子と光子ビームにおける利用について述べる.理想的には,必要なk_Q係数は病院の各電離箱と線質で測定される.AAPMが提示したTG-51線量評価プロトコルにおいてこの定式を利用するために必要となる式を展開する.線質を光子ビームでは10cm深部線量百分率,電子ビームではR_<50>で規定するということが重要である.電子ビーム線量測定で基準深として0.6R_<50>-0.1cmを用いるという提案について検討する.水ファントム中で平行平板電離箱を用いるために必要な係数についても述べる.

Objective Most small-cell lung cancers (SCLCs) are located within the central aspect of the chest and manifest as a mediastinal or hilar lymphadenopathy. Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) makes it possible to perform mediastinal and hilar nodal examinations. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of EBUS-TBNA in the diagnosis of SCLC. Methods The diagnostic performances of EBUS-TBNA and/or transesophageal bronchoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA-B/E) were calculated using the standard definitions. Patients The study consisted of a retrospective review of the medical records for all patients with histologically proven SCLC who previously underwent EBUS-TBNA and/or EUS-FNA-B/E from May 2009 to September 2014. Results The analysis was based on 161 patients and 299 aspirated specimens. The patient group included 144 males (89%); the median age was 66 years. EBUS-TBNA and/or EUS-FNA-B/E were performed in 239 mediastinal nodes, 39 hilar/interlobar nodes, and 21 lung parenchymal lesions. The median short diameter of the biopsied lesions was 17 mm. The overall sensitivity, specificity, negative predictive value, positive predictive value, and accuracy of EBUS-TBNA and/or EUS-FNA-B/E on a per-person basis were 97.4%, 100%, 60%, 100%, and 97.5%, respectively. The corresponding values on a per-lesion basis were 91.8%, 100%, 73.0%, 100%, and 93.3%, respectively. There were no serious complications related to EBUS-TBNA. Conclusion In our series of patients with SCLC, EBUS-TBNA had an excellent diagnostic yield in the evaluation of mediastinal, hilar and lung parenchymal lesions. Thus, EBUS-TBNA could be a useful and safe diagnostic method with which to evaluate patients with SCLC.

To ensure the success of reintroduction programs, it is important to monitor the post-release behavior and survival of released animals. In this study, the post-release movement and behavior of 5 wild and 5 head-started hawksbill turtles Eretmochelys imbricata were monitored using ultrasonic telemetry. Their dispersal directions and recaptures may indicate that wild turtles perform homing migrations. However, the head-started turtles showed non-uniform patterns in dispersal movements. Four head-started turtles moved out of the monitoring area in various directions, whereas one turtle stayed within the monitoring area for approx. 10 mo. These results might indicate that head-started turtles wander aimlessly in their new surroundings. Signal reception patterns indicated that wild turtles were active in the daytime and rested under the coral at night. Although the head-started turtles also rest at night, their resting places did not seem to be sheltered from hazardous sea conditions or adequate for efficient resting. Therefore, head-started hawksbill turtles appear to need pre-release training such as exposure to structures or ledges in the rearing tank so they can utilize similar structures in the wild for shelter during rest periods and maximize their dive duration by employing these as a roof to counteract the positive buoyant effect of inhaled air. Prey analysis of a head-started turtle captured incidentally demonstrates that these turtles can make feeding adaptations to adjust to the natural environment. These findings provide constructive information for the implementation and improvement of head-start programs.

研究期間中に1)P.Palumbo (1573) Non Recedat Volumen Legis Huiusの背景および近世初期日本における受容について、2)ヴァティカン写本(MS. Reg. lat. 426)の最後部にあるラテン語寸詩および叙事詩断片計4点の内容および源泉について、3)B.Pereira (1640) Paciecidos Libriの背景や内容について、調査や発表を行った。特に2)の、近世初期日本人神学生によって筆写されたのではないかと推定される擬古典ラテン語詩4点が、1588年にリスボンで刊行された書籍から採られているとほぼ同定できたことが最大の成果である。

The release of radiocesium from the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant caused environmental contamination. We analyzed sources, behavior, and temporal trends of radiocesium by 1-year monitoring in an urban river, the Ohori River. The concentrations of 137Cs in both particulate and dissolved phases decreased to ~ 16% within 1 year. The partition coefficient in dry weather was estimated to be 3.2 × 104 L/kg. 137Cs concentrations in the particulate phase were higher during wet weather than during dry weather on the basis of both suspended solids (SS) weight and liquid volume. The ratios of 137Cs concentration to deposited 137Cs in the Ohori River (e.g., composite: 0.26 m2/kg-SS in June - July 2012) were higher than those in the Abukuma River, probably because of differences in land use. Source analysis by a chemical mass balance method showed that 22% of 137Cs came from river water in dry weather, 39% from river sediments, and 39% from road dust highlighting urban surface deposits such as road dust as major sources of 137Cs in the river water even 2 years after the accident, and that the wash-off of these deposits increased the 137Cs concentration in the river during wet weather.

In this study, we investigated how the temporal envelopes contribute to the recognition of isolated syllables, words, and sentences in noise-vocoded speech, under comparison with the influence of spectral resolution. The spectral and temporal resolutions of speech materials were systematically manipulated by a noise-vocoding technique. Japanese monomoraic syllables, meaningful and meaningless words, and sentences were used as test speech materials. The original speech sound was spectrally separated by a filter bank, and each spectral band was replaced with band noise, preserving its original temporal envelope. Spectral resolution was controlled by varying the number of spectral bands as 4, 8, or 16 bands. Temporal resolution was altered by smoothing the amplitude envelope using a low-pass filter with cut-off frequencies at 4, 8, or 16 Hz. Results demonstrated an increased dependence on temporal resolution in comparison with spectral resolution for the recognition of speech materials at higher structural levels (i.e., monosyllables, words, and sentences). This increased temporal dependence suggests that the temporal envelope in noise-vocoded sentences contained a greater amount of suprasegmental information, such as coarticulations, prosodies, and rhythms, in the original speech sound.

癌抑制遺伝子p53はヒトやマウスの様々な腫瘍において不活化されていることが知られている. ネコの腫瘍におけるp53遺伝子の役割を研究するため, 種間で保存されている領域のプライマーを用いPCR法によってネコp53遺伝子cDNAのクローニングを行った. その結果, ヒトの腫瘍における変異の多発発部を含みp53遺伝子の翻訳領域の約90%に相当する1,007bpの塩基配列を決定することができた. ネコp53遺伝子はヒ卜およびマウスのp53遺伝子と同様の構造からなっており, アミノ酸レベルでそれぞれ82.9%および75.6%のホモロジーを示した. さらに, ネコ×マウスおよびネコ×ハムスターの雑種細胞においてネコp53遺伝子特異的プライマーを用いたPCR法を行ったところ, p53遺伝子はネコのE1染色体に存在することがわかった. これらの結果は, ネコの腫瘍におけるp53遺伝子の役割を明らかにするためにきわめて有用と思われる.
