It is important to develop high performance insulation sash to reduce energy consumption in all over the world. Since energy is wasted as heat from window. Today, high thermal insulation performance window made from wood or resin has already been in widespread use in Europe. In this paper, we compare result from thermal insulation performance test of sash according to JIS A4710 with calculation about it with simulation software according to ISO 10077.

This report describes the results of site inspection of child daycare facilities and interview with the related persons regarding with acoustic design, which were carried out in Munich city region, Germany, where regulations of acoustic design for daycare facilities exist. The purpose of this attempt is to find the situation of acoustic design in daycare facilities in contrast to those in Japan without any standards or regulations. The result revealed that all the rooms in the inspected facilities were equipped with sound absorptive material and personnel were more or less aware of the benefit of good acoustics.

The construction of Meiji Kyuden (the Imperial Palace) was commenced in 1883 and completed in 1888. The Bureau of the Imperial Palace Construction was the largest system of constructions in Meiji Era which was set up in 1882 and employed many engineers. These engineers were constituted writh the engineers of the Department of Public Works and the Imperial Household Agency and the other office. This paper describes on the change of the organigaation, the number of engineers, their past record, their careers in the construction works and considers on the significance which the Imperial Palace Construction had in the process of the development of Meiji Era's architectures.

The purpose of this report is to develop a method to analyze the relationship between the centers of cities and the commercial districts near the main stations. The classification using the proposed indexes revealed that the centers of the 66 local cities in Japan have been declining compared with the commercial districts near the stations. Multiple regression analysis showed, that the centers of the cities are likely to decline, if the populations are small, the distances to the main stations are large, the numbers of railway passengers are large, and the prefectural and city halls are far from the centers.

In this study, bottlenose dolphins existing breeding facilities are researched for improvement method in Japan. First, we investigated standards for dolphin breeding environments in the United States, Animal Welfare Regulations which is widely referred. Through interview with veterinarians, who are the dolphin breeding specialists, we obtained information about existing and ideal environments for breeding facilities. Based on that, problems of the existing facilities are analyzed, suggestions for improvement and improving method are described.

The purpose of this paper is to report the survey of the department store in a local city implementing extension and reconstruction for increasing in floor area and improvement in function. Some results show as follows : (1)There is much room to extend upward, because the building was built as low-layer-building. So extensions were done not only to horizontal direction but also vertical direction. (2)While existing buildings were used as the department-store, changes of usage made differences of floor-height and floor-level in the building. (3)Although air-conditioning-systems were changed in 1970-1990s to keep up with the revisions of law, increasing in floor area and improvement of equipments are consisted by some means or other.

Comprehensive research of war related sites in Okinawa Prefecture was conducted from 1998 to 2006 and comprehensive research of modernization heritage in 2002 and 2003 was conducted by the prefectural board of education.According to the result of the research, characteristics of war related sites in Okinawa prefecture are as follows.1) Most of the war related sites have circumstances of battles during the Battles of Okinawa2) Most of the war related sites are underground structures and structures on the ground are limited because of the destruction by ground battles.

This report is the result of investigation of existing lighthouses in southern Sakhalin which were built during the Japanese period (1905∼1945). In southern Sakhalin, ten lighthouses including one beacon light were built during the Japanese period. Seven lighthouses were exist, six of them were in operation. These lighthouses are Lopatina (former Kenushi, 1918), Tonin (former Airo, 1935), Aniva (former Nakashiretoko, 1939), Lamanon (former Chirai, 1940), Slepikovsky (former Konotoro, 1943) and beacon light of the Rock of Danger (former Nijyouiwa, 1926). All of them were constructed by reinforced concrete. Moreover, houses for lighthouse keeper built in Japanese period are used now. We hope that these modern heritages for Japan and Russia will be preserved.

Thermal bridges at the connections between window and wall are generally not added to evaluation of heat loss from building envelopes. This report presents evaluation method for the thermal bridge around the window. Linear thermal transmittance between window and wall in typical configurations was calculated as an evaluation index. In addition, quantities of the heat loss from the thermal bridge were compared with the total heat loss amount of a house.

This paper reports the design and construction process of 3D curved reinforced concrete roof in a recent project. In design process, “base model” based on NURBS was used to make consensus on the shape between designers and contractors. In construction, it was utilized for high precision construction and rationalization.

The purpose of this study is to give graphical expression to the building system by symbolized building joints. On the assumption that a building is considered as a thing that is assembled systematically by building members, the organization of building members should be expressed by three kinds of matrix. ie. jointing matrix, building member matrix, joint parts matrix. By this way, not only the whole form but details can be expressed and analysis of organization of building become easy.

This paper alms to clear the present situation and problem of the signboards set up along Tokaido-Shinkansen between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka. The conclusions in this paper are as follows ; 1) A large number of signboards set up along the Shinkansen on the outskirts of the big city. And they are not in good condition on the landscape. 2) The social consensus has to be against setting up them. 3) The local governments have to pull down illegal signboards positively. 4) The sponsors have to take moral principles responsibility for their own signboards. 5) The advertising agency union has to keep under selfcontrol of setting up them.

Prolongment of buildings’ life is important because many buildings are getting old, and most of them are hard to rebuild. It is also important to preserve buildings which tell us many historical things. Yasuda-hall, at University of Tokyo, built in 1925 and went through WW2, campus disturbances, East Japan Disasters, and so on. In this study, we unveil records of Yasuda-hall’s repair and renovation. In this paper, we show the history of Yasuda-hall and the summary of Yasuda-hall’s records of repair and renovation.

This paper outlines the “Teito-sokai-jigyo-ippanzu” (General Map of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Building Evacuation Project), which shows the entirety of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s building evacuation project from the first to the fourth phases, and the “Tatemono-sokai-chikuzu” (Building Evacuation District Maps), which shows the project for each ward. Both maps were published in May 1944 by the Building Evacuation Division of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Defense Bureau, and show a total of 357 evacuated areas.

This study investigates a 3D digitization workflow for post-WWII wooden houses during their demolition. The process generates a 3D model, incorporating assembly information and assigning unique identifiers to each component. The study establishes a database of components by connecting the identifiers and assembly information with 3D scan data. The study also proposes a solution for 3D scanning conventional wooden components that lack distinguishable features by placing markers around the periphery to serve as new reference points. This method facilitates the preservation of historical value and encourages the reuse of materials and the adoption of innovative building system expression techniques.

The existence of the fire insurance maps for the area under the Japanese mandate before World War II had not been previously confirmed. However the fire insurance maps for Karafuto (Sakhalin), Taiwan and Asahikawa, Hokkaido, before World War II were newly discovered at the Chiyoda City’s Hibiya Library & Museum. In addition, these over 380 maps were scanned and digitalized, to compare with various other similar maps in order to identify the characteristics of these fire insurance maps. These fire insurance maps contribute to our deep understanding of the urban history for these areas and cities.

This study clarifies the actual situation of community cat activities in Kobe City. The purpose of this study is to provide helpful examples of activists and those who want to start their activities and to consider how to deal with regional issues. The results of the survey revealed that the activity methods were devised according to the characteristics of each region. What is important is that it is necessary for local residents and local governments to actively know the actual situation and current situation of activities, and then consider that local residents and local governments can cooperate with activists.

This paper shows that the famous western-style house called “The Former Guggenheim House” was actually built by J.Lyons in Shioya, Kobe, from the end of 1907 to 1908. “The Former Lyons house,” also known as the former Takeuchi house, was built by J.Guggenheim. For a long time, those two houses have been mistaken. J.Lyons established J.Lyons & Co., and this company will later become Nickel and Lyons Ltd.. F.M.Jonas and P.Watson, who were deeply connected with J.Lyons, joined his company and acquired land in Shioya. We can affirm that J.Lyons influenced the development of Shioya into a resort area.

We report on the design aspects and process of the Asia Zone of Sapporo Maruyama Zoo opened in December 2012, and in particular, focusing on the snowy cold region. We accumulated the zoological design perspectives and experiences since the beginning of the Maruyama Zoo restart project started from 2006. The project was advanced through creating a design guidebook for the zoological exhibition that promotes compassion towards animals and anticipation upon meeting them. The ideas of breeding staffs on the design were reflected to draw the characteristic behavior of animals.
