Ardisia imbakensis Utteridge & Julius (Primulaceae-Myrsinoideae), a new species of Ardisia subgenus Pyrgus, is described and illustrated from the Malaysian state of Sabah. Remarkable for the massive, elliptic leaves and the lateral reproductive branches with ovate to oblong foliose bracts, the new species is endemic to the Imbak Canyon Conservation Area in northern Borneo.

@BenKuhnhaeuser @OAgyeno @JulietWege @BillJBaker No idea! We described an Ardisia from Sabah which has pendulous inflorescences reaching the ground, and the flowers were covered in sand and soil with insignificant petals. So visitors terrestrial that don’t need showy flowers as an attraction?
