Recently, it is pointed out that the supply of roofing miscanthus grasses for cultural properties is short with the decline of miscanthus grasslands. This study clarifies the supply and demand of roofing miscanthus grasses for cultural properties and the role and maintenance of small-local grassland. The current supply amount of roofing miscanthus grasses has fully satisfied the demand for nationally designated cultural properties, not be able to meet the demand for all of the cultural property. Small-local grasslands play an important role in the preservation of local cultural properties, and it is necessary to manage the whole area of small-local grassland by mountain burning.
