This study aimed to develop a Japanese version of the Multidimensional Future Time Perspective (MFTP) scale (Brothers, Chui, & Diehl, 2014). A survey was conducted among men and women over 20 years old, and 501 valid responses were received. The results of the exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses supported the same three-factor structure as the original scale. Multigroup structural equation modeling across three age groups (young, middle-aged, and older adults) provided a significantly good fit to the data. These findings indicated that the Japanese version of the MFTP has the same reliability and validity as the original scale.
