エジプト、ルクソール西岸アル=コーカ地区で、平成29年12月~平成30年1月に、さらに平成30年3月の2回にわたり調査を実施することができたことで、前年度同様、研究を進展することができた。当該地区には、第18王朝アメンヘテプ3世治世末期の高官ウセルハトの墓(TT47)の大規模な前庭部を中心として、数多くの岩窟墓が存在している。しかしながら厚い堆積砂礫に覆われていたため、未発見の岩窟墓が存在していることが想定された。これまでの調査によって、ウセルハト墓の前庭部の南側からKHT01とKHT02(コンスウエムヘブ墓)が、そして前庭部北東部からKHT03(コンスウ墓)の3基の岩窟墓を新たに発見することができ、従来の当該地区における岩窟墓の立地に関して新知見を売ることができた。平成29年度の調査によって、さらにKHT02(コンスウエムヘブ墓)前庭部の南側とTT47(ウセルハト墓)の前室南側上部の2か所において、新たな岩窟墓の存在を確信する箇所を確認することができた。これら2か所には、周辺の岩窟墓の状況から、いずれも第18王朝トトメス4世時代に属する岩窟墓の存在が予想される。そのため今後の調査により、この地区における岩窟墓の造営の変遷が一層明確になることが期待される。平成28年度に実施した大規模な堆積砂礫の除去作業によって出土した膨大な量の葬送用コーンの分析を通じて、当該地域における未発見の岩窟墓の複数の所有者の推定を可能とすることができた。これらの成果をまとめ発表することができた。平成29年度には、KHT02(コンスウエムヘブ墓)を中心として、岩盤工学の専門家と壁画の修復家の協力を受け、岩窟墓内部の壁面の保存修復作業を重点的に実施し、大きな成果をあげることができた。この結果、今後の岩盤脆弱で発掘作業が困難な部分の調査に対する目途を立てることを可能にした点でも意義は大きいと考えられる。

This year marks the centennial of the annexation of Korea by Japan and the 91st anniversary of the incipience of the March First Movement. Nonetheless, there is a relative paucity of research in Japan into Japanese-Korean relations during this era. More specifically, so far there has been little comprehensive research into the Korean Declaration of Independence Using primary sources in the context of the March First Movement. The present paper focuses oll the Declaration itself against the backdrop of the March First Movement, and explores how it came to be drafted and spread throughout the country. The significance of the Declaration is explored by examining how one Japanese person obtained and stored it in Pyongyang. It is the author’s opinion that this examination of the Declaration of Independence as a historical document provides a new perspective on the March First Movement. Needless to say, this study in itself does not make a case for a major change in views of the March First Movement or of the Declaration’s signatories as‘‘traitors”, but it does pose questions worthy of further examination.

The extensive occurrence of a felsic continental crust is one of the unique features of the Earth. The growth history of the continental crust has been a key issue in understanding the origin and evolution of the Earth. In particular, recent geological studies indicate that subduction of the continental crust into the mantle has been greater than previously imagined. The current understanding of the growth of continents and the differentiation of the crust and the mantle of the Earth is reviewed based on a detrital zircon geochronology. One of the most important achievements arises from the analysis of the age structure of individual continents and secular changes over time. The new detrital zircon geochronology suggests that the sizes of the continents have changed over time, which has been an important factor in the growth of the continents. Large continents, such as the modern examples, can preserve older crusts in their interiors, which are separated from active continental margins. Conversely, in the early Earth, continents were probably formed by the amalgamation of small fragments of crust, such as oceanic island arcs. It is speculated that the smallness of the continents was the most significant cause of the poor preservation of Hadean and Archean crusts, despite putative expected active crustal production. Consequently, the recycling of the continental crust occurred in great magnitudes during the early Earth's history. The large-scale subduction of felsic crust represents one of the most important aspects in studies of the early Earth.

流体力学は古典物理学の問題であり,統計物理学の活躍する乱流理論を除けば物理学的に面白いものではない.こう考える読者は多いのではなかろうか.「大きなコンピュータさえあれば,流体力学のたいていの問題は解ける」という人もいる.だが,コンピュータシミュレーションで現れ出る結果をそのまま鵜呑みにする物理学者はいるまい.やはり,その物理的な背景が理解できるまでは納得できるものではなかろう.流体力学には物理的な背景説明の難しい現象は結構あるように思う.私のような数学者としては,以下に述べるような流れ現象の背景説明を物理学の研究者から得たいのである.考察の対象は2次元の流れである.現実の流れはすべて3次元であるとはいうものの,地球規模の流れのように,高さが横方向に対して極端に小さい場合には2次元流れがよいモデルになると信じている人は多い.2次元には3次元とは異なる特有の現象(例えば乱流の逆カスケードなど)があり,独自のおもしろさがある.背景説明を期待したい流れ現象はいろいろとあるものであるが,中でも2次元における大規模渦の存在が厄介な問題である.それは非常にしばしば発生し,しかも長時間にわたって維持されるけれども,普遍的な現象と言えるほどの法則性が見つかっていない(ようだ).だからと言って物理学や数学になじまないということもなかろう.環境が違っていても同じような渦があっちにもこっちにもみられるというのは何か底に潜むものがあるに違いない.ここでいう大規模渦とは,一言で言えば,流線のトポロジーが単純である解である.典型的な例は,流れ関数が1点のみで最大値をとり,最小値を取るのも1点で,その他の領域では単調な場合である.そこまで数学的に厳密にしてしまうと発見が困難な場合もあるが,「ほとんど単調」と言える場合も込めて考えれば非常に多くの場合にこうした大規模で単調な解が見つかるのである.統計力学の理論を乱流現象にあてはめるとき,大規模渦は厄介者である.性質の似通ったものが大量にあることが統計力学の前提であるから,典型的な大きさと同程度の渦が1個だけ存在しているというのは好ましくない.それが例外的なものならばよい.しかし,様々な知見の積み重ねによって,大規模渦は不可避であると考える研究者は増えてきたように思える.実際,こうした大規模渦の存在は古くから指摘されてきた.一方で,「レイノルズ数が小さいからそうしたものが現れるのであって,レイノルズ数が十分に大きければそのようなものは崩れてしまい,観測されないであろう」という意見もあるかもしれない.しかし,筆者らの研究は,(相当に多くの場合に)どんなにレイノルズ数を大きくしても大規模渦が不可避であることを強く示唆する.しかも,それが,定常な流れという,一番単純なものの中に見つかるのである.こうした渦の存在を生み出すメカニズムは何か,人それぞれに意見の分かれるところであろう.何らかの意味で関連しそうなのは,「逆カスケード」や「最大エントロピー解」であろう.読者の中から物理的な説明を与える人が現れてくることを期待する.

The purpose of this study is to propose a method of a walking assistance by using an exoskeletal system “Hybrid Assistive Limb (HAL)” for cerebral palsy (CP) patients who cannot stand up and walk due to the abnormal generation of the bioelectrical signals (BES) in their lower limbs associated with the brain disease, and to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method through a clinical trial. HAL was developed to support the voluntary movement of the wearer based on the BES. The proposed method consists of two algorithms, that is, an assistance of voluntary movement in the swing phase and an assistance of weight bearing in the stance phase. The assistance of the voluntary movement determines the rotational direction of the actuator from the ratio of the abnormal BES by using sigmoid function during the swing phase. On the other hand, the assistance of the weight bearing adjusts automatically the stiffness and viscosity of the joint during the stance phase. In the clinical walking trial with a 3-meter walk using parallel bars, we confirmed that HAL including the proposed method achieved the patient's walking assistance. Especially, the assistance of the voluntary movement in the swing phase produced his leg-swing based on the BES signals. As a result, the walking speed, cadence and stroke width of the patient with HAL during this trial are 1.6m/min, 11.4 steps/min and 0.14m, respectively. In conclusion, we have proposed the method of the walking assistance method and thus, confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Considering the appearance and the change process of the postwar black market in front of Hiroshima station, we are going to give new information about a station square adjustment, redevelopment and revitalization project. Right after World War II, black markets were appeared in many urban cities in Japan, as well as Hiroshima, especially in front of the Hiroshima station there was a bustling big scale black market. Even though Hiroshima was atomic bombed, people were doing business in the black market and it effected very much to revitalization of Hiroshima. Although this hasn't mentioned so much until now, it is indispensable to talk about the restoration process of Hiroshima. Considering the station square black market in Hiroshima is not only important to thinking about the restoration process of war damage in atomic bombed city Hiroshima but also it can give you the important information to having a grasp of the history of Japanese war damage restoration more in general.

School-based extracurricular sports activity (SBECSA) has widely spread in Japan as a means for youth to play sports or exercise. Especially in junior high school and high school, SBECSA is actively conducted with a high participation rate of students. There have also been reports that elementary schools in some Japanese municipalities also have SBECSA. However, there has been little information about which municipalities conducted SBECSA in elementary schools. Therefore, the present study aimed to clarify the existence of SBECSA in elementary schools in each municipality, and to create a municipal map of implementation status. A complete enumeration questionnaire survey was conducted with all 1741 municipalities’ educational boards. Question items were in regard to the existence of elementary schools’ SBECSA in their municipalities. Answerers were requested to choose one response from the items; “almost all elementary schools have SBECSA”, “some elementary schools have SBECSA”, “there were SBECSA (about 10 years ago), but now there is no SBECSA”, “there weren’ t any SBECSA before 10 years ago”, “we don’ t know”, and “we don’ t answer” . To increase the response rate, a second survey was conducted with Sports Associations or similar sports related organizations in each municipality. Additionally, a third survey was conducted with educational boards again at the same time as the feedback of results was given. As results, 88.0% of all municipalities’ implementation status was identified (response rate = 92.5%). And 23.0% of all municipalities were shown to have SBECSA in elementary schools, although 64.9% did not have it. More than half of the municipalities in Aomori prefecture, Chiba prefecture, Aichi prefecture, and Kumamoto prefecture have SBECSA in elementary school. Based on the results of the present study, it is suggested that further development of the youth sport environment should be discussed. In addition, means to decrease the burdens on teachers who coach and manage SBECSA must be considered.

The incidence of modified measles (M-Me), characterized by milder symptoms than those of typical measles (T-Me), has been increasing in Japan. However, the outbreak dominated by M-Me cases has not been thoroughly investigated worldwide. The largest importation-related outbreak of measles with genotype D8 occurred in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, from March to April 2017. This phenomenon was observed after Japan had achieved measles elimination in 2015. We confirmed 60 cases by detecting the genome of the measles virus (MeV). Among the cases, 38 were M-Me and 22 were T-Me. Thirty-nine (65.0%) patients were 20–39 years of age. Three out of 7 primary cases produced 50 transmissions, of which each patient caused 9–25 transmissions. These patients were 22–31 years old and were not vaccinated. Moreover, they developed T-Me and kept contact with the public during their symptomatic periods. Considering that M-Me is generally caused by vaccine failure, some individuals in Japan may have insufficient immunity for MeV. Accordingly, additional doses of measles vaccine may be necessary in preventing measles importation and endemicity among individuals aged 20–39 years. Furthermore, to accurately and promptly diagnose individuals with measles, particularly those who can be considered as primary cases, efforts must be exerted to detect all measles cases using epidemiological and genetic approaches in countries where measles elimination had been achieved.
