The Wikipedia is a web-based encyclopedia, written and edited collaboratively by Internet users. The Wikipedia has an extremely open editorial policy that allows anybody, to create or modify articles. This has promoted a broad and detailed coverage of subjects, but also introduced problems relating to the quality of articles. The Wikipedia Recommender System (WRS) was developed to help users determine the credibility of articles based on feedback from other Wikipedia users. The WRS implements a collaborative filtering system with trust metrics, i.e., it provides a rating of articles which emphasizes feedback from recommenders that the user has agreed with in the past. This exposes the problem that most recommenders are not equally competent in all subject areas. The first WRS prototype did not include an evaluation of the areas of expertise of recommenders, so the trust metric used in the article ratings reflected the average competence of recommenders across all subject areas. We have now developed a new version of the WRS, which evaluates the expertise of recommenders within different subject areas. In order to do this, we need to identify a way to classify the subject area of all the articles in the Wikipedia. In this paper, we examine different ways to classify the subject area of Wikipedia article according to well established knowledge classification schemes. We identify a number of requirements that a classification scheme must meet in order to be useful in the context of the WRS and present an evaluation of four existing knowledge classification schemes with respect to these requirements. This evaluation helped us identify a classification scheme, which we have implemented in the current version of the Wikipedia Recommender System.

A time-resolved photoelectron imaging using a femtosecond ultraviolet (UV) laser and a vacuum UV freeelectron laser is presented. Ultrafast internal conversion and intersystem crossing in pyrazine in a supersonic molecular beam were clearly observed in the time profiles of photoioinzation intensity and time-dependent photoelectron images.

Synthetic DNA-transfection reagents can overcome safety issues raised by use of viral DNA vectors. One of these candidates is a cationic lipid that can form a supramolecular complex with DNA. We have been working in a series of aromatic diamine lipids with different tail length from C6 to C18: [N-(3,5-dialkylbenzyl)ethane-1,2-diamine, denoted DA] as such a lipid. The present paper describes the synthesis and the fundamental properties of DA. SAXS from DA solution showed bilayer vesicle formation, while it showed lamellar formation after the complexation with DNA. When we measured the N/P ratio (molar ratio of the amine groups (N) in DA to phosphate groups (P) in the DNA) dependence of SAXS, the lamellar peak (spacing = 5.0 nm) increased proportionally to the added DNA concentration at N/P ≥ 8. On the other hand, in the range of N/P < 8, the spacing was increased to 5.5 nm and the area decreased as DNA increased. These different features between N/P ≥ 8 and N/P < 8 suggest that the lamellar supramolecular structures differ according to the composition.

We numerically examine dynamical heterogeneity in a highly supercooled three-dimensional liquid via molecular-dynamics simulations. To define the local dynamics, we consider two time intervals: τα and τngp. τα is the α relaxation time, and τngp is the time at which non-Gaussian parameter of the Van Hove self-correlation function is maximized. We determine the lifetimes of the heterogeneous dynamics in these two different time intervals, τhetero(τα) and τhetero(τngp), by calculating the time correlation function of the particle dynamics, i.e., the four-point correlation function. We find that the difference between τhetero(τα) and τhetero(τngp) increases with decreasing temperature. At low temperatures, τhetero(τα) is considerably larger than τα, while τhetero(τngp) remains comparable to τα. Thus, the lifetime of the heterogeneous dynamics depends strongly on the time interval.

本稿では,第7回および第8回NTCIRワークショップにおいて実施された特許マイニングタスクと,このタスクで構築されたテストコレクション(評価用ベンチマーク)について述べる。特許マイニングタスクの最終目標は,ある分野の論文と特許から,技術動向マップを自動的に作成することである。本稿では,特許マイニングタスクで実施された2つのサブタスク:(1)学術論文分類と(2)技術動向マップ作成について説明する。また,国際的に利用されている特許分類体系のひとつである国際特許分類(IPC)に,学術論文を自動分類するシステムを紹介する。

感染や自己免疫に基づかない炎症を反復する疾患群,自己炎症疾患(autoinflammatory diseases)の存在が明らかになった.自己炎症疾患は,炎症を繰り返すものの,病原体,自己抗体,自己反応性T細胞は見出されない.炎症,自然免疫,細胞死の制御に関わる分子群の異常であり,確定診断がなされず治療に難渋することも多い.自己炎症疾患における個々の疾患は治療法が異なるため確定診断が重要である.自己炎症疾患は特徴的な臨床所見を呈するため,比較的診断は容易であり,さらに遺伝子解析による確定診断が可能である.原因不明の炎症があり改善しない場合は,本疾患群を常に念頭に入れて,炎症性疾患を鑑別する必要がある.

A phenomenological model for cloud dynamics is proposed, which consists of the successive operations of the physical processes: buoyancy, diffusion, viscosity, adiabatic expansion, fall of a droplet by gravity, descent flow dragged by the falling droplet, and advection. Through extensive simulations, the phases corresponding to stratus, cumulus, stratocumulus, and cumulonimbus are found by changing the ground temperature and the moisture of the air. They are characterized by order parameters such as the cluster number, perimeter-to-area ratio of a cloud, and Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy. Though our model is simple and constructive, it may shed some light on the true nature of clouds.

NetCommonsはGPL(GNU General Public Licence)のオープンソースとして公開されている情報共有基盤システムである。NetCommonsはその基盤として活用しているXOOPS同様,コンテンツ管理機能を持つコミュニティ構築ソフトウェアであると同時に,XOOPSにはない,グループウェア・e-ラーニング機能を持つ。NetCommonsを導入することによって,ひとつのWebサーバ上で容易にワンストップサービスを開始することが可能となる。特に,教育機関がNetCommonsを導入することによって,学校Webサイトの拡充・データベースの公開・緊急連絡網の整備・校務の情報化・教育の情報化などを低コストで実現している。本稿では,NetCommonsの基本機能を解説するとともに,いくつかの活用事例について紹介する。

The surfaces of medical materials are coated with polymer molecules or drugs in order to functionalize the surfaces in such ways as imparting biocompatibility. But in the case of inorganic materials there is the problem that polymers will have poor adhesiveness and be liable to peel. A coronary artery stent holds the vessel lumen patent by being expanded to the plastic deformation region, and if the material surfaces are coated with DLC, the coating must follow the plastic deformation of the base material. Accordingly we created a thickness-wise concentration gradient in the Si content that is added to the DLC, and discovered that thereby a DLC nanocoating is produced that does not crack under the plastic deformation required in a stent, and that has superior adhesion. In this way we succeeded in improving adhesion of the drug coating when used in combination with thin film material obtained via application of plasma surface treatment techniques, and in producing a practical stent that exhibits high biocompatibility even after slow release of the antithrombotic agent into the body is complete.
