This paper discusses some fundamental ideas of situated learning, activity theory, cross-contextual learning and a new field of situational boundary work. Firstly, I take up five questions or misunderstandings often had about situated learning theory and respond to these: 1) does it deny mental processing?, 2) does it consider that external circumstances determine learning?, 3) does it regard internalization of knowledge in a situation as learning?, 4) which does it focus on, individual transformation in a situation or whole collective transformation?, 5) does it consider that transfer doesn't occur? Secondly, I discuss cross-contextual learning or boundary crossing, a main subject in recent activity theory. Thirdly, I interrogate organization or states of boundary itself and our ways of recognition or ethnomethods of its use. This paper constructs some concepts of boundary transformation, multi-boundary, and distantiation.

Low-intensity Kaatsu resistance training performed by patients with moderate vascular occlusion is known to cause skeletal muscle hypertrophy over a short term. In our patients who used such training as a part of their rehabilitation, we have seen the same results, as well as a quenching analgesic effect. Herein, we report the effect of Kaatsu resistance training in a patient with patella tendinitis. The patient was a 17-year-old male who played basketball and came to us with intense pain at the lower edge of the patella in the right knee and was confirmed by an MRI image which showed a high intensity signal in the area of the patella tendon. Initially, we gave a dose of antiphlogistic analgetic, a steroid injection, and prescribed hospitalization for 1 month. Kaatsu resistance training was also recommended in an attempt to prevent muscle atrophy. The vascular occlusion point for the Kaatsu training cuff was the proximal end of the right limb, which had an occlusion pressure ranging from 160-180 mmHg. The exercise components that were used in combination with the Kaatsu training program were SLR, hip abduction, hip adduction, calf raise, toe raise, squat, crunch, back extension, and shooting. The exercise protocol was performed at about 30% of 1RM, with 3 sets of 15 repetitions, 5 to 6 times per week, for 3 weeks. T2 weighted MRI images (axial and sagittal) of the right patella tendon prior to beginning Kaatsu training showed high intensity signals, however, after 3 weeks of Kaatsu training, the signal intensity was reduced and the thigh circumference was increased by 7 mm and 2 mm for the right and left sides, respectively. Further, there was no evidence of muscle atrophy. The present patient was then treated with appropriate anti-inflammatory drugs and 1-month of hospitalization. During that time it was possible to completely relieve the inflammation and avoid muscle atrophy with Kaatsu training, and the patient quickly returned to playing basketball. In conclusion, this low-intensity resistance training was able to be performed without applying excessive load, which may have caused further damage, and we intend to use Kaatsu training with future patients to help them return as early as possible to full activities.

This study defines the students who have continuously belonged to a sports club built systematically in the school constitution as "<I>TAIIKUKAIKEI</I>" students, and clarifies when and how this idea came into being and the common understanding that "<I>TAIIKUKAIKEI</I>" students could be regarded as more favorable human resources than the other students in job hunting in Japan. The document sources are mainly gathered from articles in the business magazine '<I>JITSUGYOU NO NIHON</I>' , that was circulated widely from the end of the Meiji era to the beginning of the Showa era.<BR>    The results are summarized as follows. At the beginning of the Taisho era, the idea or consciousness of "<I>TAIIKUKAIKEI</I>" had not existed yet, but there was a belief that it was necessary to have a robust body in order to survive the competition of society. In the middle of the Taisho era, behind the growing enthusiasm for sports, people became conscious that lots of executives of big companies had been "<I>TAIIKUKAIKEI</I>" and it had the media values of : (1) advertisement and (2) prevention of being left in remote colonial places, and so it was observed that "<I>TAIIKUKAIKEI</I> employment" was coming into being. By the end of the Taisho era, reflecting the excessive emphasis on academic attainments in recruiting, "<I>TAIIKUKAIKEI</I> employment" came to be established.<BR>    Afterwards, at the beginning of the Showa era, the process of distinguishing between "Professional" and "Amateur" became clearer and the latter became dominant over the former in "<I>TAIIKUKAIKEI</I> employment" , and sportsmanship became a more important element in composing a useful body. In the days when the labor movement was growing radically in response to the depression, ideological problems such as alerting to Marxists, leftists, and communists were supposed to be social issues. In this context, the students with physical and mental problem-this study named them "<I>KYOYOKEI</I>" in contrast to "<I>TAIIKUKAIKEI</I>" -received negative images and seemed to have been shunned by companies. At the same time, because the "<I>TAIIKUKAIKEI</I>" had not changed anything, they were understood to have a moderate ideology and to be more important from the viewpoint of employment.
