There are many researches into the problem of personality specificity in psychosomatic diseases. From our clinical experience, for instance, it was out that essential hypertension and obsessive compulsive cha racter are related with each other. In the case of polysurgery, however the existence of specific personality is denied and specific psychodynamics is rather stressed. In other words, it is based on such a standpoint that personality and psychodynamics should be separated in concept. Futhermore, according to this theory, it is not enough in polysugery to stress the individual psychodynamics of a patient alone, but it is necessary to stress psychological situation surrouding doctor-patient relations and other factors. In addition to this, it is stressed that personality works as a secondary factor to fixate the above situation.
