This paper focused on Japan's design movement in the 1930s which can also be stated as the starting point of modern design in Japan. This research aims to clarify the part of small number female designer who contributed on that movement. As a case study, Michiko Yamawaki who was a textile designer has been chosen. The tea ceremony world as a part of Michiko Yamawaki's life, has cultivated her sensitivity, and by encountered with Bauhaus (design), the free way of thinking and her expression method has been acquired. By this process, she tackled the basis of life aesthetic creation from woman's viewpoint.
