The absorption and metabolism of oxyfluorfen were determined in oxyfluorfen-tolerant and non-tolerant (normal) soybean cell lines. The tolerant cells absorbed considerably less of the herbicide than the normal cells. Metabolism of oxyfluorfen did not differ between the two cell lines. These data suggest that lower absorption in the tolerant cells may contribute to the observed tolerance but that the tolerance is not metabolism-based.
