The Tokai University Isehara Campus Library consists of two libraries, the medical library and the health sciences library. The medical library has been open for 24 hours on weekdays since November 1993, and it has been ten years since the day in November 2003 when personnel started performing window business throughout the night, which we call "open with librarian". The health sciences library was established in 1995, and an automated admission system was introduced in 1997. No librarian is present from 19:00 to 22:00 weekdays, or from 19:00 to 9:30 the next morning during examination periods, which we call "open without librarian". During these ten years there have been some unresolved problems, for example, reduction of service, shortening of the period open for 24 hours, cost reduction, etc. I am anxious to tackle various problems and to attempt to manage opening for 24 hours better.
