The element composition of a bell (Dotaku) and a metallic piece that were excavated from Peshi- misaki site in Rishiri-island was analyzed with X-ray fluorescence analyzer. The dotaku was a bronze alloy containing a relatively high concentration of Pb. Since fluidity of molten metal increases with increasing Pb content in bronze, Pb rich composition must have been beneficial in casting of a dotaku having complex shape. From the comparison of the shapes with the dotakus excavated from neighboring areas, it is considered that the dotaku from Peshi-misaki site was cast between 8th and 10th century. A concurrently excavated metal piece was a solder alloy contained from Pb and Sn. The solder alloy could have been used for repair of bronzewares casted in the site at that time.
