"Characters" can indicate the symbol of a culture. Printing typefaces are important media of cultural communication. Chinese printing technologies began from the Tang Dynasty; extended and developed by the Sung Dynasty for the Civil Service Examination System, home school and publication. The Sung typefaces, which used in the Xylographic Books, are the source of printing typefaces.Be it oiental or western culture, initial-printing typefaces was enlightened by the writing typefaces. Printing typefaces extend the human minds and handiwork abilities. We can utilize the calligraphic arts to observe the esthetic senses or formative notions. The first step of this research intended to carry out historical investigations.
