The Japanese Islands span approximately 3,000 kilometers from north to south. In Hokkaido of northern Japan, drift ices surge toward the coast from the Sea of Ohotsk, and in Okinawa of southern Japan, coral reefs grow in the Pacifi c Ocean. Main island being surrounded by the sea its climate is influenced by the warm and cold currents resulting in distinct variation of 4 seasons. Taking advantage of natural blessings of local climate changes, peoples have created unique food cultures of their own and have passed them on through generations to this day. This year as of last. “The Food Culture of Shinshu Ⅱ” will be offered in this course we will study the local foods and the specialties of Shinshu.
