Oxygen capsules and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which have been used to recover physical function, are currently being examined as physical training devices. The levels of dissolved oxygen in blood are increased in hyperbaric hypoxic conditions; thus, high-intensity training is most likely possible in training at a moderate power output, which requires oxygen. The present study compared biological responses and performance during exertion of moderate power in a standard environment and under hyperbaric hypoxic conditions. The exercise task was performed in accordance with the measurement protocol function for moderate power training of the Konami Power Max upright exercise bike. Data were analyzed using the paired t test and two-way analysis of variance, with the level of statistical significance set at a p value of <0.05. Significant differences were observed in the mean moderate power values for the second and third sets, and in peak power value for the third set. In addition, interactions were observed in the changes in the mean moderate power values for each set in both environments. However, interactions were not observed for mean peak power values in any set in either environment.
