In recent years, studies on the spatial structures of medieval manor villages have been accumulated. These studies show us that the medieval rural landscapes are still in existence. That is why the author attempted to look for the medievals at Nashiha-go-Minamikata in Nuta-no-sho where comparatively many historical documents have remained. First of all, the author made a basemap by pasting the modern land register maps together, and took hearing of koaza (koaza means the narrowest place name) and yago (yago means a name of each family) ,and moreover confirmed the place names in the historical documents on the basemap. Some results are summarized as follows : 1) Although many place names which come from myosyus (myoshu means the farmer who holds paddy fields) can be found in the medieval documents, there are no more than about 17 in the field. 2) Each myo (myo means the territory which a myosyu possesses) occupies almost the entire small vally. These myos, come together by twos and threes. 3) A Myo is composed of several paddy fields, plowed fields, and farms by the slash and burn methods, etc. It seems to form the concentric circle whose centre is a myosyu's house. 4) Although several Jori type place names are found in a historical document of the 13th century, the author could not find the lots in conformity with Jori-system at the area. The important problem with which we are confronted is to investigate the hidden histrical facts behind the geographical distribution.
