Among the patients visiting our clinic complaining of gonalgia, those who had pain around the patella, compression pain of the patella, but no other symptoms, exhibited hamstring tightness.We had them do hamstring stretching exercises, and followed the changes in the gonalgia and hamstring tightness.To examine the hamstring tightness, the angle of knee flexion was measured with a goinometer after passive knee extension with the hip flexed to 90 degree.In 10 cases involving 13 joints, pain around the patella or compression pain of the patella was relieved with the decrease in the hamstring tightness following the stretching exercises.
