This paper attempts to show that the Japanese dialects in Central Amami-Oshimaare tone-languages which have 1 type of pitch-pattern on their prosodical unitsimilar to the dialect of Miyakonojo or Kise, and are not 'accentless' or tonelesslanguages as they have been generally regarded.
