This study will determine how the fatal shooting of former Prime Minister Abe was reported by the media through witnesses and local journalists. The incident took place on the eighth of July in 2022 in Nara prefecture where Abe was giving a speech in support of local counselors during the national election.This research paper will further explore in detail how the tragic events unfolded from the perspective of the media, and how the news was broken by NHK and other TV news stations. Furthermore how footage from bystanders had an impact on how it was broadcast. To conclude it will examine how the media portrayed Abe in a positive light looking back at his career, and how other similar historical political attacks were covered by news journalists and TV stations in the past.
