The fundamental and primary structural elements in the northern Fossa Magna region are the northeastward trending Shin-ethu Tectonic Trend. On the contrary to this, northward trending tectonic movements has occurred during late Miocene to early Pleistocene time. The Omine Belt is the representatives of this newly tectonic movements, so this trend is called the Omine Tectonic Trend. The Omine Belt is a narrow strip of land, five to seven kilometers wide and sixtyfive kilometers long, at the western margin of the northern Fossa Magna region. It is limited by the Itoigawa-Shizuoka Tectonic Line on the west, and by the Otari-Nakayama Fault on the east. Sedimentary and volcanic rocks of late Miocene to early Pleistocene age are widely distributed in this belt. They are characterized especially by a large amount of coarse clastic sediments with intercalated andesitic to rhyolitic volcanic rocks. Two larger volcano-sedimentary cycles are recognized, so they are subdivided into two formations, i.e. the Otari and Omine Formation in ascending order. The detailed sedimentological studies reveals that the main source area of a large amount of clasts is to the western and southwestern mountains of older rocks, i.e. the Japan Alps, and to the eastern area, i.e. the main part of the Fossa Magna region. Many large alluvial fans were undoubtedly formed in this belt.

The miscellaneous-type of bluing in rose petals (YASUDA and KIKUCHI, 1978) was re-examined using the following five cultivars: Cardinal de Richelieu, Blue Boy, Reine des Violettes, Shigyoku, and Samurai. The massive structures appearing in the epidermal cells of their petals showed striking similarity to the anthocyanophore-like structure in some rose petals which was reported by YASUDA in 1974b, 1976 and 1979 at three points: 1) staining features both with ruthenium red and safranine, 2) developmental process, 3) behaviors against weak acids. From these results, it was proposed that the bluing pattern exhibited in such roses as five cultivars mentioned above should be separated from the miscellaneous-type as a new group of bluing, an anthocyanophore-type.

The sex of triploid ginbuna (Carassius auratus langsdorfii) are all females, reproducing gynogenetically. The artificial sex reversal was carried out successfully by the oral treatment of methylteststeron for two months after hatching out. In the sex reversed triploid ginbuna, the processes of spermatogenesis from spermatogonia to the primary spermatocyte was similar with diploid males. But thereafter though in the diploid male two different types of nuclear plate in diameter were observed, in the triploid ginbuna it was observed only the same diameter of nuclear plate. From these observations, it was concluded that the first maturation division might be omitted in these males as in females. Further, the triploid males produced the unequal diameter and DNA contents of sperms. This might be caused by unequal nuclear division during meiosis. Artificial insemination of triploid female with the sperm of sex reversed triploid male, resulted in the all triploid females. The sperm of triploid male might be possess the ability to activate the egg of triploid female gynogenetically.
