Two methods are well known to drive an EL lamp for a watch. One is a self-oscillation circuit using a transformer, the other is a driver IC equipped with a charge-up coil. The merits of a self-oscillation circuit are to be simple and easy to get brightness. However, the mounting area is larger and the cost is higher. The purpose of development of the EL Driver IC is to make smaller the mounting area and the lower cost. In practice, a charge-up coil both for EL and for buzzer is used in the EL Driver IC. (This Driver IC also includes buzzer driver.) Wrist watch bilt-in this driver IC has been produced on the commercial basis. Hereafter we will promote the EL technology as a regular function of digital quartz watch.

My SEIKO PROSPEX watch has an inorganic EL back light. SEIKO has been producing engaging EL sheets. https://t.co/wbV2ZSb9io It's possible to make a crane. I wonder that how is a switching driving circuit embedded in compact body? A paper shows the circuit. https://t.co/K2Y0ejnEsQ
