Multiple shoots were induced by shoot-tip cultures of 5-month old juvenile seedlings of Cedrela odoraia L. on woody-plant medium supplemented with 6-benzylamino purine (BAP). A small concentration of BAP (0.2mg/l) was suitable for shoot proliferation and their later elongation. Large rooting percentages (90%) were obtained on half-strength amounts of the same initial medium containing low levels of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) and naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) (IBA 0.5mg/l and NAA 0.05mg/l) . Rooted shoots were transferred to perlite substratum for root development and further plantlet growth.
