The outbreak of Chamberlinius hualienensis happened between Goryo and Ishikaki Station, Ibusuki Makurazaki Line, Kagoshima Prefecture and stopped trains in early winter 2000. The mulch and windmills to protect the crops from winter chillings seemed to provide the favorite environment for the millipedes, which is originally distributed in Hualien, Taiwan.
