In this study I focus on the six hundred temporary exhibitions held for forty years by the Design Gallery 1953 on the 7^<th> floor of Matsuya Department Store in Ginza, Tokyo. In 1964 the Design Gallery was established by Matsuya Department Store and the Japan Design Committee organized in 1953. The aim of this paper is to examine the importance of the exhibition data which is composed of the image of the invitation postcard of each exhibition in order to study the history of modern design in Japan.
