School counselors encounter with many problems in elementary schools, junior high schools and high schools. Of all problems, the issue of suicide is most difficult to deal with. Statistically speaking, suicide is committed by children of ten years and over. Children of nine years and under rarely kill themselves. A suicide has a very powerful effect on the school staff and on the other students. In the paper, based upon the author's clinical experiences, newspaper articles about suicide and other researchers' opinions, he (1) outlines features of suicide among children and adolescents ; (2) describes the risk factors for suicide, warning signs for suicide, depression among children and clustered suicide in puberty ; and (3) especially from a practical viewpoint as a school counselor, discusses the prevention, intervention and postvention for suicide in school settings.
