省察的実践家概念は教師の専門性を基礎づける概念として教育学研究において一定の位置づけを得ている。しかし、その鍵概念となる省察の意味するところについては、これまであまり詳しく検討されてこなかった。本稿ではまず、ショーンが『省察的実践とは何か』の中で用いている行為の中の省察を3つの意味で用いていることを明らかにする。第一にショーンは、行為の中の省察の前提となる行為を、数か月といった比較的長い期間を指すものとして用いている。次に、行為のただ中における省察について述べるが、言語を媒介とするこの省察は、わずかな瞬間であっても行為を中断することを前提とし、その中断自体の有用性が主張されている。しかしヴァン=マーネンによれば、教室で教師が子どもと対峙している状況においては、立ち止まって考える猶予はなく、常に真正な態度で子どもとパーソナルな関係を保っていることが求められる。そのような状況において我々は、教師として子どもにとって善いと思われることをほとんど熟考したり計画したりしないままに判断し行っている。ここで要求されるのが教育的タクトなのである。教育的タクトは、言語を媒介しない直観ともいえるショーンの3つ目の省察に近いと考えられるが、それが「教育的」である限り、何よりも子どもの善に向けて行われなければならないという意味で、通常の省察とは異なるものである。教育的タクトは、行為の中の省察に近いものではあるが、それは行為に先立って行われる省察、行為の後に回顧的な仕方で行われる省察を繰り返すことによって培われていく。しかもその省察が、省察の仕方そのものを省察するという現象学的な仕方においても行われることが重要なのである。The idea of ""reflective practitioner" is considered as a basic concept underlying the professionalism of teachers. However, the meaning of reflection has not been examined closely until now, even though it is a key term of ""reflective practitioner". Donald Schön uses the idea of reflection in action for three meanings. First, a practitioner's reflection in action may not be very rapid. The action present may stretch even weeks or months. Second, Schön describes the reflection in the midst of action. He insists that even when the action present is brief, performers can sometimes train themselves to think about their actions. However, according to van Manen, when we interact with students we must maintain an authentic presence and personal relationship for them. So we do not have enough time to stop and think as a teacher in the classroom. We should do the right thing for the child without reflecting in a deliberative or planning manner. He argues that in such a situation pedagogical tact is required. Schön also mentions the third type reflection which is implicit. This type of reflection is considered to be similar to pedagogical tact. However it must be pedagogical, be oriented to the good for children. In order to enhance the pedagogical tact, it is useful for teachers and training teachers to conduct the anticipate reflection and recollective reflection time and time again. And it is important that these reflection should be phenomenological.
