特集 : 韓国経済発展の歴史的条件 : 1960年代日本との比較を中心に日韓会談開始から日韓基本条約調印に至る過程を要約すれば, 1951年9月の対日講和会議以降, 日韓両国は妥協点を模索し, 同年10月の第一次予備会談以後何回もの中断を経て, 1962年10–11月の原則的合意に至った。両国の政情の変化によりこの合意は直ちには実現せず, 1965年6月に日韓基本条約と財産・請求権・経済協力協定などが成立した。しかし条約と諸協定には両国間で解釈の差を生む表現があり, 以後の日韓関係で繰り返し問題となった。After the Treaty of San Francisco in October 1951, Japan and South Korea sought a ground for compromise, and in October 1961, both parties reached a general agreement on principles surrounding normalization. However, political change in both countries prevented action on their negotiations. The talks in November 1964 resulted in the conclusion of the Treaty on Basic Relations and the Agreement on Property, Claims and Economic Cooperation. But the texts of the treaties yielded different interpretations in Japan and Korea. In this way, the 1965 Japan-Korea system has from its inception carried within it a variety of problems.
