生徒、学生のキャリア選択の判断は、自己について考えた後、他者や組織への配慮、慣習や規則を意識したうえで、判断しているものと思われる。このようなことは、必要な場面に直面したときだけではなく日常的に行われており、弱者への援助行動についても同様といえる。このことから、キャリア選択を考察する際において、自己のことのみならず、他者との関係性や集団組織との関係性、慣習や規則(ルール)との整合性を総合的に捉え、ある範囲の社会的な様式を表していると考えられる。社会心理学者であるCharles Daniel Batson(チャールズ・ダニエル・バトソン)が、『Altruism inhumans』(翻訳本『利他性の人間学:実験社会心理学からの回答』新曜社(2012))の中で、4つの社会的動機の様式を示した。本研究の目的は、この示された様式・利己性(Egoism)・利他性(Altruism)・集団性(Collectivism)・原理性(Principlism)を主軸に、キャリア選択の価値観を利己性、利他性、集団性、原理性の視点から捉え、特に初期のキャリア判断の過程に関して検討することである。具体的には、生徒、学生が個人のキャリア選択について判断する際、不確実な思考対象に対して、意識的あるいは無意識的に、自分のためなどを中心とする自己利益の獲得を目指した価値判断をするなど、自己のキャリアに対する認知的環境を再構成していこうとする種々の認知過程が存在するはずである。仮定された自己のキャリア選択の志向が、4つの社会的動機の様式に影響されるのかを取り上げたうえで分析し、明らかにしたい。The purpose of this study is to explore how career selection is processed based on four humanvalues―egoism, altruism, collectivism, and principlism, particularly focusing on the process of theearly stage of career selection and determination. Student's judgment of career selection involvesthinking about himself followed by considering others and organizations as well as societal norms andrules. In this respect, research on career selection requires not only investigating the self but alsoexamining a relationship between the self and the other, that between the self and the organization,and a consistency between the self's behaviors and societal customs and regulations. From this notion,such analyses entail importantly investigating egoism, altruism, collectivism, and principlism inrelation to career selection. Thus, this study pays much attention to those four values or motivationsthat Charles Daniel Batson, a preeminent social psychologist, proposed in his book "Altruism inHumans". In the present study, it is assumed that students are required to restructure their cognitiveschema with regard to their own career when determining a career choice at a grade early stage duringschool life. In this occasion, it is thought that students must judge career selection by using their valuesin order to resolve an indecisive and uncertain situation of their career selection in which they oftenface. In sum, this study will specify and discuss which four values or motivations affect the process ofcareer determination according to the student's intention towards a career choice.
