The author has presented part of a collection of Olympic memorabilia which he started in around 1984, about 35 years ago. The initial report includes a photograph collection from the fifth modern Olympic Games held in Stockholm in 1912, which were also the first Olympics in which Japan participated, and a ticket for the marathon featuring Shiso Kanakuri; the bidding album for the twelfth Summer Olympics which were due to be held in Tokyo in 1940 but were cancelled because of the Sino-Japanese war; the album (from the 1949 National Amateur Athletic Union Swimming Championship) was sent to Masaji Tabata (at that time head of the Japanese Swimming Federation) by Fred Isamu Wada, who did the bidding activities at his own expense for the eighteenth Tokyo Summer Olympics, the first Olympics held in Asia in 1964; autographed paper from the Japanese Athletics Team celebrating Kokichi Tsuburaya's winning of the bronze medal in the marathon; identity cards of players and officials, etc. These memorabilia should be collected, preserved and displayed in a sports museum as sports cultural assets.
