日本語ワープロソフトの編集機能の操作性をノビスユーザの作業パフォーマンスと主観評価を指標にして実験的に比較した.その結果をもとにワープロの操作性を左右している要因について検討した.比較したワープロは,一太郎Ver3.0,新松,VJE?pen Ver2.0,QueenIIIの4種類である.被験者は,初心者20名で,置換,移動,複写などの編集機能を使うベンチマーク作業を遂行した.作業パフォーマンスはタイムスタンプ付きの打鍵データから分析した.結果は,ワープロ間の作業遂行時間の差は,意図した機能の検索と選択の時間に依存していることが明らかとなった.機能の検索と選択に要する時間を左右しているコマンドメニューの構造と機能名の付け方について考察した.This study was conducted to test user performance and attitude for different word-processors used in personal computers. Four word-processing systems of substantially different design were chosen for this experiment. Twenty novice users were tested individually on the benchmark, in which the users modified a text file (e.g., replace characters, delete characters, move chracters). Keystroke data accurate to within one millisecond were collected for all subjects. The results showed that command menu design (e.g., item names and organization of items) is most important for novice users. Implications for the designing of command menu systems are discussed.
