We have made some experiments on whiteness, smoothness as well as opacity.
Whiteness is remarkably less in Japanese paper than in foreign-style paper.
Japanese paper, when utilized to coloured paper, demands particular deliberation upon its whiteness.
Smoothness is important in case of printing : but the weak-point is that smoothness differs between one surface and the reverse.
Opacity relates to closeness ; the denser the closeness is, the bigger the opacity becomes.
Japanese paper, on the whole has a small opacity.
