There are many-two dimensional computer systems to garment patterns. However, they are unable to deal with three-dimensional designing.We set up to develop a CAD system dealing with three-dimensional drawing and an automatic pattern making.This system should have at least following two abilities : that is, (1) versatile technology by which an appropriate pattern can be obtained only by input of a pictorial fashion drawing which is allowed to be designed freely, (2) a sophisticated method which can simulate an entity of the garment in three dimension which has produced from the pattern just made by the foregoing system. So these two activities must be coordinated in each other.An artificial intelligence will be used to realize (1), and heuristic methods were exploited in (2).
