Zircaloy-2 specimens were oxidized in steam and charged with tritium by the cathodic charging method. The distribution of tritium in the oxide film and alloy was observed by microautoradiography. Although tritium was absorbed by the alloy through the oxide film, the tritium concentration in the oxide film and alloy layer beneath it was lower than the concentration in the inner region of alloy. In the oxide film and alloy layer beneath it, tritum segregated in intermetallic precipitates. In the inner region of alloy, tritium segregated in the intermetallic precipitates and the grain boundary of zirconium matrix.
