The number of pregnant women with measles has increased in recent years because of the low rates of vaccination or vaccine failure. Between 1997 and 2001, 5 pregnant and 3 puerperal women with measles visited Yame General Hospital.2 patients had pharyngitis, laryngitis and otitis media. 4 had high levels of liver enzymes. 2 had preterm deliveries. One newborn was diagnosed with congenital measles. One puerperal woman with measles communicated the disease to her infant. This infant contracted measles encephalitis two months after delivery. In order to avoid the incidence of various complications, such patiens should be carefully observed.
