As a new agent that permits dewaxing without using xylene or xylene substitutes, we prepared a detergent including cleaning substance that we deem effective and tried it for dewaxing after heated. Paraffin dissolution-removal effect was not exactly adequate, compared with xylene, but we were able to obtain staining results almost comparable to those dewaxed with xylene for Hematoxylin-Eosin stain (H & E) and various special stains as well. Like ordinary commercial detergents, this agent is legally allowed to be drained into sewer system. We expect that this agent can contribute to improving work environment by minimizing use of xylene and alcohol in laboratories.
