The effect of interval period between coating and drying on print mottle and binder migration was studied.<BR>Various coating colors having several starch, latex levels, solid contents and latex design were prepared, and were coated by new type multi-purpose laboratory coater, MLC-70. MLC-70 was able to control interval period between coating and drying from 0.3 to 60 seconds.<BR>Mottling tendency of these coated papers was evaluated by Croda ink stain and trapping test of RI print tester.<BR>Starch and latex contents in the coated surface were measured by absorptiometric procedure and pyrolysis gas chromatography, respectively.<BR>The effect of interval period between coating and drying on print mottle and binder migration were discussed.
