論文(Article)本研究は2008年度に関西地区の6大学、約880名の学生を対象に実施した英語力実態調査の結果を報告するものである。1994年度に実施された英作文実態調査と同じテストやアンケート用紙を使用し、15年間で学生の英語力や教育環境がどのように変化したかを比較、考察する。最後に、調査結果を基に、現在の大学生に対する効果的な英語教育の方向性を提案したい。This study examines the changes that have occurred in Kansai-area college students' English ability during the fifteen-year period between 1994 and 2008. In 1994 a survey of the English skills of approximately 1000 students was conducted at seven Kansai-area universities. A similar survey was conducted in 2008, involving 880 students from six Kansai-area universities. The tests and questionnaires used in the two surveys were the same. The results of the surveys were compared in order to assess any changes that might have occurred in the intervening fifteen-year period. Several suggestions for improving English education for current university students are offered.
