The susceptibility of JTC-3 cell incubated at 40°C and/or 36°C to poliovirus Type 1 and Coxsackie Virus B-5 has been studied. Results were as follows:1) The intracellular and extracellular viral yields were produced less in cells held at 40°C than 36°C.2) The CPE was developed more slowly in cells held at 40°C than 36°C.3) Infected cells incubated at 40°C were transferred at 36°C after 2 days, on the contratry, the another infected cells incubated at 36°C were transferred at 40°C after the same hours. In the former group the CPE was developed more rapidhy than in the latter group.4) Any inactivator of virus could not be recognixed in the infected cell incubated at 40°C.5) The high temperature prior to the infection was not responsible to the alteration of viral susceptibility of cells.
