It is often mentioned that Michael Haneke's 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance is a critique against the mass media because images of real news broadcasts figure in the film. The purpose of this research is to show that this film is not only a critique of the mass media, but also a critique of audiences who watch news broadcasts produced by the mass media. I will discuss how the elements of media and audience critique function through an analysis of the editing process.ミヒャエル・ハネケ監督作品『71 Fragmente einer Chronologie des Zufalls』についてよく指摘されるのは、ニュース映像が使用されることを根拠として、メディア批判的機能を有するということである。本論考においては、この映画作品がメディア批判的機能を有すると同時に、そのメディアを視聴する視聴者をも批判する機能をも有するという点を明らかにする。メディア批判的機能および視聴者批判的機能がこの映画において、どのように機能しているのかについて、映像編集の分析を行なうことによって論じる。
