A 52-year-old man who had been using a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) and a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) for 14 years underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy and was found to have three neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) in the gastric body. Following detailed examinations, parietal cell dysfunction was excluded, and the NETs did not meet the criteria for the Rindi classification types I-III. The lesions were ultimately considered to be associated with the long-term use of the PPI and P-CAB. We performed endoscopic submucosal dissection of the lesions, with no recurrence or new lesions noted after discontinuation of the PPI and P-CAB.

We herein report the definitive diagnosis of rectovaginal endometriosis in two cases. Case 1 involved a 46-year-old woman with abdominal pain and hematochezia. The diagnosis after the first and second examinations using lower gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy was unclear. Differential diagnoses included mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue and colorectal cancer. The third lower GI endoscopy with a targeted biopsy, performed during menstruation, confirmed rectovaginal endometriosis. Case 2 involved a 38-year-old woman with hematochezia. Lower GI endoscopy during menstruation revealed rectovaginal endometriosis. When rectovaginal or bowel endometriosis is suspected, lower GI endoscopy and a targeted biopsy during menstruation can prevent unnecessary surgery.

The purpose of this study was to come across an exercise that increases the Hamstring contraction levels so that it may protect the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Previous studies have postulated that changing the projection of the center of gravity behind the feet will decrease the translation of the tibia, therefore protect the ACL. Muscle activity of the quadriceps, hamstring and soleus muscles in healthy subjects was measured with an EMG during three different squat tasks with differences of support of body weight and the center of gravity. The subjects were nine healthy female recreational athletes with no history of any pathological knee condition or musculoskeletal system disorder. There was no significant difference in the activities of the four muscles (Vastus Medialis; Hamstring: Semitendinosus and Biceps Femoris; and Soleus); and there was a similar pattern in the activity between those muscles in the exercises. In addition, VM values were considerably higher than the Hamstring and soleus activity levels. There was no significant difference between one squat from another and among the phases (0-30°, 30-60° or 60-90°) of knee flexion. These results suggest that even when changing the projection of the center of gravity, the activity of the quadriceps is high compared to the hamstring and soleus muscles.
