Sturmia micronychia sp. nov. is described from Japan. This species is very similar to S. bella (Meigen) and both are reared from the chestnut tiger butterfly, Parantica sita niphonica (Moore), and a papilionid, Byasa alcinous (Klug), in Japan. The male genitalia of both species are illustrated and diagnostic characters are given. A key to Asian species of Sturmia is provided and known species of the genus from Asia and Oceania are briefly redescribed.

The Japanese species of Trigonospila POKORNY and Lixophaga TOWNSEND are revised. One species of each of the genera is described and illustrated as new to science. Keys to the Japanese species of both genera are presented.

The Oriental genus Uromedina is revised. Uromedina rufipes sp. nov. is described and illustrated from Japan. Three known species, atrata, caudata and eumorphophaga, are redescribed and illustrated. Females of atrata and caudata are described for the first time. A key to the 4 species of the genus is provided.

Nine Japanese species of Oswaldia are revised, four of which are described as new to science : flavitibia sp. nov., gilva sp. nov., glauca sp. nov., and strigosa sp. nov. Five known Japanese species are discussed and briefly redescribed. A key to the Japanese species is provided.
