The Purpose of this paper is to study the environment of Yamagata City by analyzing school songs of 53 primary and secondary schools in Yamagata City. Feature of the natural landscape such as mountains, rivers, the sky, fields, trees and flowers are often recorded in the songs. Mountains are mentioned most often. Mountain Zao and Mountain Gassan are both favorites of the people of Yamagata. Rivers have not appeared in the songs since 1965, because it seems water pollution has made rivers unappealing to the people. 姓の別表記: 髙野
