日本語の「知っている」と「分かっている」の意味を英語の"know"のそれと経験的・概念的アプローチによって比較し、日本語の二つの述語の間に認識論的に興味深い差異を発見することで、英語だけに基づく認識論への方法論的問題を提起することに成功した。また日本語以外の言語へも考察を広げる国際会議を開催し、発表者による様々な言語の知識述語の比較が行われ、それを通し、出席者の間で活発な議論を呼び起こした。 : The uses of two Japanese counterparts of "know", "shitteiru" and "wakatteiru" were conceptually and empirically studied, and some epistemologically interesting differences were found between the two Japanese verbs, and therefore their relations with "know" are not straightforward. We also held an international conference to extend this observation to other languages, and provoked relevant debates.
