While f ields related to educational data analytics such as learning analytics are rapidly developing, the importance of institutional research is recognized from the viewpoint of assuring the quality of education and management assistance. To undertake organizational analysis and provide support that is tailored to individuals, the integration of these f ields will become increasingly important. In this study, as a framework for utilizing a method of learning analytics for institutional research and student support, we investigated a method for modeling the transition process of students’ learning states by using Bayesian networks. Its applicability was investigated based on the results of numerical simulations conducted as a part of the study.

This article reports on recent trends in research on classroom instruction and teacher education based on the educational technology approach in Japan. First it was surveyed research on classroom instruction and teacher education during the early period of educational technology. Then it traces the genealogy and background of research based on the educational technology approach, having divided the material into research on classroom instruction and teacher education. The article then shifts its focus to the activities of “SIG-02: teacher education and practical research,” one of the Special Interest Groups founded in 2014, and reports on the achievements and future challenges of five SIG study meetings and SIG sessions at three annual conferences.

This paper proposes a design of Web based Computerized Testing System(WCTS) for distance education. The system is consistently designed to unify the functions of CATC(Computer Assisted Test Construction), CBT(Computer Based Testing) and CADA(Computer Assisted Data Analysis). The unique features of this system are addressed in the CATC and the CADA as follows : 1. The CATC assists teachers' shared use of item database, a cooperative construction of a distance test by teachers of different schools, and an interactive construction of a test. 2. The CATC has a test score distribution prediction function using past item statistics data in Item Data-Base. These functions show to the teachers the predicted score distribution during they are constructing a test. These functions are expected to assist the teachers' collaborative test construction. 3. The CADA assists an automated process of data input through test execution, marking, analysis and immediate feed-backs to the teachers, students, and the system. Especially, it is an unique feature to analyze the newly gathered data like the number of times which an student changed his/her answer to an item. Furthermore, this paper demonstrates some performances of this system for evaluating distance education between Japan and Thailand.

Learning in museums is considered that visitors construct their original knowledge or experiences through museum objects as learning resources. However, it is said that they need museum literacy to interpret them, and such literacy is not an innate but acquired ability from their previous knowledge and experiences. Unfamiliar visitors tend to fail museum learning because of their lacks of the literacy. Therefore, museums should compensate their shortages to develop their learning, but the way has yet to be revealed. This study aims to propose a way to support museum visitors to construct an interpretive framework for studying objects. We analyzed what kind of information constitutes museum literacy by reference to the previous researches. According to this analysis, we outlined a pedagogical process model named as the Cognitive Orientation of Museum and developed a learning material based on the COM to investigate this effect on an actual museum experience. We investigated the effects through a comparative experiment between the COM material and the other interpretative material. As a result, the COM model showed the positive effects on the users' museum learning.
