It is a report of the practice of active learning using "The tales of Ise" in "Classical literature". Members of a class made material, and reported it based on this material. And they discussed. The characteristic of "The tales of Ise" is that "Uta" asks a story and a story decides meaning of "Uta", and the stories using "Uta" are arranged. Members of a class made "Uta" and story using "Uta". And they arranged stories using "Uta". As survey results we found out that active learning is effective, but correspondence with targets of a subject is insufficient. It is necessary to improve the targets and methods.

In order to detect cyber security threat at NIT Kumamoto, Yatsushiro Campus, we construct and operate an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) in our computer network since December, 2017. IDS has based on a predetermined signature and it can detect intrusions, attacks and other signs by monitoring packet-flow through the computer network. In this paper, we report introduction, construction and operation of this system.

This paper describes a basic research results on the engineering visibility evaluation of the horizontal scroll display character in the LCD screen.It is studied subjective visibility of Japanese text that flows through the LCD screen in a single line from the right to the left. Text information of the random arrangement "katakana" is used. The scroll speed, number of characters and the character size are investigated the effect on visibility. Certain of the character size and the number of characters that visibility is improved exist for the LCD screen size. To obtain a scroll speed suitable for the number of characters and character size, it is possible to improve the visibility. This study is considered to lead to obtain the guidelines for the future, improve the visibility of the dynamic character information.

Japanese traditional bow, so called ‘Wakyu’, has been made from a bamboo. On the other hand, a bow which is made from new material as a glass fiber or a carbon fiber has been developed from 1970’s. These new material bow are easy to handle and are durable. However the vibration of a new material bow is different from that of a traditional bamboo bow at shooting an arrow. Therefore it is expected to develop a new material bow which has similar to bamboo bow in vibration characteristics.The purposes of this study are to measure the vibration characteristics of bows by using accelerometer and to make clear the effect of material and structure to the vibration characteristics. For these purposes, an experimental setup to investigate some of vibration characteristics of bow was constructed.In this paper, it is explained that the developed experimental setup and the basically vibration characteristics of a new material bow at shooting an arrow.
