In order to construct a resources recycling society, waste reutilization as resources is attracting increasing attention. Vitrification treatment has possibilities of not only utilizing waste as civil construction materials, but also recovering valuable chemical components through high temperature treatment. Proposed process recovers phosphorus from incinerator ash of sewage sludge. This process both produces highly utilizable slag, and recovers yellow phosphorus from sludge incinerator ash by vitrifying it in a reducing atmosphere and volatilizing phosphorus. This report verified effectiveness of the phosphorus recovering vitrification process for incinerator ash of sewage sludge.

The effect of heat pre-treatment in the crushing of granite was investigated. The reduction of crushing energy was found to greatly depend on the prodcut size of granite as well as on the temperature of heat treatment. The magnetization of mica was also observed to increase by the heat treatment.Mica was recovered by first-stage magnetic separtion up to 98% by weight. In order to find one of the possible uses of mica, its aptitude as a filler for resings was examined. Mica was mixed with polyvinylchloride and the mechanical strength of the mixture was measred. As a result, mica showed almost the same reinforcing effect as talc which was popular filler for resins.
