Caligraphy of Wang Xizhi was accepted during the Nara period, and there were three stages for the acceptance. Initially, people learned it's concept by reading poetry and literature. Secondly, they learned formal script-style. And finally, they learned the cursive script-style. In this way, caligraphy of Wang Xizhi firmly settled and became the foundation for Japanese character culture.
