Isozymes of esterase (<i>Est</i>) and malic enzyme (<i>ME</i>) are an effective hereditary index for discriminating between <i>Torymus sinensis</i> and <i>T. beneficus</i>. In particular, the <i>ME</i> zymogram pattern of <i>T. sinensis</i> has a single main band which is slower than that of <i>T. beneficus</i>. Morphologically-indistinguishable males of the two species can be distinguished by the <i>ME</i> zymogram.
