研究ノート2004年8月に行なわれたアテネ五輪は、2001年9月11日に発生した「米国同時多発テロ」事件後の最初のオリンピックであった。21世紀初頭の暴力が蔓延する世界にあって、平和の祭典といわれるオリンピックのあり方が改めて問われている。オリンピックは本当に平和的であろうか。本稿はオリンピックと戦争の関連性について、「競争」、「停戦」、「政治の美学化」という3つの視点から歴史的に考察する。The 2004 Olympic Games in Athens were the first Olympiad after 9.11 in the year 2001. People have begun asking how the Olympic Games, a festival of peace, will confront the world where violence prevails at the beginning of the 21st century. Are Olympic Games really peaceful? In this paper, we are going to make historical considerations about the relation between Olympics and war, taking into account the three factors of competition, truce and aestheticization of politics.
